The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Wah, organized a guidance session on 01 October 2026 to facilitate faculty members in preparing research proposals for the Higher Education Commission’s National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) Call 2026-27.
Dr. Saleem Iqbal, Chairperson, Department of Chemical Engineering and resource person for the event, provided Principal Investigators (PIs) with practical guidance on developing competitive proposals, preparing well-structured budgets, and ensuring effective grant management. The session covered key aspects of grant lifecycle, including program eligibility across disciplines, recent HEC policy relaxations, including the waiver of Rs. 5,000 application fee, proposal design strategies, budget preparation, post-award financial administration, and monitoring requirements under the updated 2026 HEC guidelines.
The session also highlighted that the deadline for submitting Stage-I project outlines through HEC portal is 30 October 2026. An interactive question-and-answer session provided participants an opportunity to seek clarification on various aspects of the NRPU application and grant process.
