Economics

The Department of Economics is committed to providing quality education, promoting research, and developing the professional and analytical skills of its students. The department offers BS Economics, MS Economics, and PhD Economics programs designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, quantitative expertise, and critical thinking abilities required to address contemporary economic challenges.

The primary objective of the department is to prepare students as competent professional economists capable of serving in a wide range of public and private sector organizations, both nationally and internationally. The academic programs incorporate modern qualitative and quantitative approaches to economics, enabling students to develop a strong understanding of economic theory, econometric techniques, data analysis, and policy evaluation.

Ph.D. Economics 3 Years

MS/MPhil Degree in relevant discipline with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 or equivalent (70%), UW Entry Test (Minimum 70% Marks) or GAT-Subject (Minimum 60% Marks) or GRE-Subject (Minimum 60 Percentile)

Dr. Waqqas Qayyum

Assistant Professor and Incharge Academic Affairs at the International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIUI). A pioneer Master’s graduate of the University of Wah, he completed his MSc Economics in 2007 with distinction and was awarded a Gold Medal.
