A delegation from the Pakistan Engineering Council conducted the Outcome-Based Accreditation (OBA) re-accreditation visit of the BSc Chemical Engineering program at the University of Wah on 21-22 May 2026. The PEC evaluation team comprised Engr. Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed (GIK Institute), Engr. Dr. Abdul Waheed Bhutto (DUET Karachi), Dr. Muhammad Zaman (PIEAS Islamabad), Dr. Arsalan Ahmed (CUI Wah), and Engr. Sadaf Bangash (PEC Headquarters). Islamabad). The visit aimed to evaluate the department’s academic programs, facilities, and compliance with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) standards in accordance with PEC accreditation requirements.
The accreditation visit commenced with a formal meeting between the PEC evaluation team and the Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, Prof. Dr. Jameel Un-Nabi. During the session, Prof. Dr. Adnan Tariq, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, presented an overview of the faculty’s infrastructure, academic resources, and support facilities. Dr. Saleem Iqbal, Chairperson, Chemical Engineering Department, briefed the team on the implementation of the OBE system, including program learning outcomes, assessment methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
On the first day, the PEC team held meetings with the University Registrar, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Director QAE, and Director ORIC to review institutional mechanisms supporting quality assurance, research, and academic development. The team examined faculty course folders, alumni records, and internship documentation, and conducted detailed inspections of laboratories to evaluate laboratory notebooks, equipment, operational procedures, and adherence to safety and technical standards. The evaluators also interacted with students of the 6th and 8th semesters to assess their understanding of program outcomes, laboratory practices, and academic experiences.
On the second day, the PEC group looked over the final-year project folders and community service records to see how well the students did with their research and outreach. The team also met with alumni and employers of Chemical Engineering graduates to gather feedback regarding graduate competencies and the program’s relevance to industry requirements. Further reviews of departmental documentation and academic processes were carried out to ensure alignment with PEC accreditation criteria.
The visit concluded with an exit meeting between the PEC evaluation team and the Vice Chancellor. Throughout the two-day evaluation, the PEC team rigorously assessed the department’s academic and administrative processes, facilities, documentation, and stakeholder feedback in accordance with established accreditation standards.
