University of Wah (UW) and the National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad, signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster long-term collaboration in higher education, research, innovation, and community engagement on 09 July 2026. The partnership aims to enhance academic excellence, strengthen industry linkages, and contribute to Pakistan's socio-economic development.
Senior leadership from both institutions attended the MoU signing ceremony. Representing the University of Wah were Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor; Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd.), Registrar; Prof. Dr. Adnan Tariq, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Hikmat Ullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science; and Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC. The NUTECH delegation included the Rector, all Pro-Rectors, the Registrar, Director of Undergraduate Programs (DoU), Director of Short Courses (DoS), Director of Innovation & Commercialization (Dir. I&C), Principal NUSIT, and Principal NUSET. The University of Wah delegation received a warm welcome at NUTECH and was briefed on the university's academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong industry-oriented initiatives.
The agreement provides a comprehensive framework for collaboration in undergraduate and postgraduate education, curriculum development, credit transfer, student and faculty exchange, internships, and joint research in emerging fields, including Engineering, Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Biosciences, and Business Analytics. Both universities will also jointly supervise Master's and PhD students, organize academic workshops, seminars, and conferences, and promote collaborative publications in peer-reviewed journals.
As part of the partnership, the institutions will strengthen research commercialization and entrepreneurship by sharing best practices between the University of Wah's Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and NUTECH's Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (NORIC). The collaboration also includes the exchange of library resources and initiatives to enhance industry engagement and startup support.
To ensure effective implementation of the agreement, both universities agreed to establish dedicated working groups. Designated focal persons will coordinate collaborative activities, while the Registrars of both institutions will oversee the execution and monitoring of initiatives under the MoU.
Following the signing ceremony, the University of Wah delegation toured NUTECH's campus, including its computer and engineering laboratories. The partnership brings together the University of Wah's academic strengths in engineering, sciences, and management with NUTECH's industry-focused approach, laying the foundation for impactful collaboration in higher education, research, innovation, and national industrial development.
