University of Wah celebrated International Women's Day 2026 with a dialogue and podcast session highlighting the global theme of "Rights, Justice, and Action" on 05 March 2026. The session was organized under the Female Ambassadors Program of the Women Development Department (WDD), Government of Punjab, in collaboration with the Directorate of Media & Publications at the University of Wah.
The session featured Dr. Asma Arif, an HEC-approved PhD supervisor and Global Special Correspondent for Chinese Social Sciences Today, as the guest speaker. The discussion was hosted by Maira Kashaf Raja, Female Ambassador (Second Batch), representing the Women's Development Department at the university.
Opening the session, Ms. Maira Kashaf Raja highlighted that the Female Ambassador Program aims to equip university students with leadership and advocacy skills to promote gender equality and social impact across Punjab. She noted that ambassadors serve as a bridge between the Women's Development Department and the academic community.
Dr. Asma Arif congratulated the newly appointed ambassador and appreciated the Punjab government’s initiative for creating platforms that help young women develop leadership capabilities and contribute to societal progress. Emphasizing the importance of education, she stated that it remains the most powerful asset for women to build confidence, overcome barriers, and lead in research, policy, and professional fields. She also shared her experience as a global special correspondent for Chinese Social Sciences Today, encouraging young women to pursue global opportunities while remaining connected to their cultural identity. Highlighting her research in green finance, energy economics, and sustainable development, Dr. Arif stressed the importance of women’s participation in shaping a sustainable economic future for Pakistan.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion on empowering young women to take active roles in research, policy, and social initiatives.
