Department of Economics, University of Wah, conducted the second day of the Short-Term Training Program for Faculty and Staff under the CPEC Consortium of Universities, themed “CPEC and Ecosystem Restoration.” The session, held on 07 October 2025, focused on promoting awareness about the long-term sustainability of CPEC and the importance of ecological restoration.
The day featured Prof. Dr. Cao Zhihong from the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, as the distinguished resource person. He delivered an insightful presentation on “The History of the Silk Road and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI),” highlighting China’s philosophy of peace, harmony, and cultural exchange, as well as the role of Confucius Institutes in fostering mutual understanding.
The hybrid session drew over 200 participants from 50 leading institutions across Pakistan, including Quaid-i-Azam University, International Islamic University Islamabad, Fatima Jinnah Women University, COMSATS University, Air University, FAST-NUCES, Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, University of Education, Government College University Faisalabad, and PIDE. Speakers emphasized the enduring “iron brotherhood” between China and Pakistan, discussing ways to strengthen collaboration in education, research, and sustainable development. The event concluded with souvenir presentations and a group photograph, marking the successful completion of Day 02 of the program.
