Department of Islamic Studies, University of Wah, organized a seminar on “Beneficial Use of Social Media & the Responsibilities of the State in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (s.a.w.w.)” on 04 September 2025. The event was held to commemorate the 50th International Seerat Conference and the 1500th Birth Anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.).
In her welcome address, Dr. Mussarrat Malik, Chairperson, Department of Islamic Studies, expressed gratitude to the guests, including Prof. Dr. Anees Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Riphah International University, Islamabad, and Prof. Dr. Jameel-un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah.
Prof. Dr. Anees Ahmed, hiskeno adress emphasized the relevance of the Prophet’s (s.a.w.w.) Seerah as a guiding framework for ethical and responsible social media use. He emphasized that values such as truthfulness, respect, tolerance, and compassion, central to the Prophet’s teachings, must shape digital interactions in the modern world. The discussion highlighted the power of words, respect for diversity, the need to avoid gossip and slander, the importance of promoting goodness, safeguarding privacy, and ensuring ethical communication. Speakers and participants agreed that when aligned with the Prophet’s (s.a.w.w.) moral principles, social media can become a tool for harmony, positivity, and constructive dialogue. The seminar concluded with the consensus that the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.) provide a timeless and practical framework for addressing the challenges of the digital age. At the end, Vice Chancellor presented the university souvenir to the honored guest.
