University of Wah (UW), Pakistan, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU), Türkiye, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for five years to promote academic, scientific, research, and institutional cooperation between the two universities on 28 September 2026.
The MoU establishes a framework for mutually beneficial collaboration in the following areas:
-Exchange of faculty members, students, researchers, and postdoctoral fellows
-Participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, and other academic activities
-Exchange of academic, scientific, and research information, publications, and resources
-Use of digital platforms and e-learning to facilitate academic and research collaboration
-Joint exploration of national and international funding opportunities
-Development of joint research centers and laboratories
-Opportunities for internships, practical training, and field studies
-Undertaking other mutually agreed academic and research activities through appropriate arrangements and separate agreements
This agreement aims to create opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint research, academic engagement, and capacity building between two institutions. Collaborative activities will be undertaken in accordance with the applicable laws, institutional policies, and approval requirements of both universities.
Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Vice Rector, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions. It was decided that focal points would be appointed at both ends that will connect academic staff of both universities with sizeable overlapping interests. It was further agreed that student exchange will be promoted between the two institutions. MAKU will also nominate reputable faculty members as adjunct faculty members of UW. The MoU highlights commitment of both institutions to strengthening international academic and research linkages and fostering sustained institutional cooperation.
