The 35th meeting of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF)-University of Wah (UW) Research Collaboration Committee was held on 23 June 2025 at the University of Wah. The meeting brought together representatives from POF and the University of Wah to review ongoing collaborative activities and discuss matters related to research, development, innovation, and industry–academia engagement.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of project completion letters and letters of appreciation by Brig. Muhammad Irfan Arif, Director R&D, POF, to the Principal Investigators of completed research projects. The recognized projects covered significant areas, including industrial automation and control systems, the development of advanced functional materials for industrial applications, and environmental remediation technologies.
During the meeting, Brig. Muhammad Irfan Arif also presented a research grant cheque worth Rs. 0.8 million to support an environment-related research project aimed at addressing environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions.
The committee further explored opportunities for research funding and agreed that UW faculty members and POF officers would jointly pursue competitive research grants to advance collaborative R&D initiatives. Discussions also focused on expanding student internships and industrial training opportunities, enhancing industry exposure for UW students, and promoting the joint supervision and development of industry-based Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs) to address real-world engineering and technological challenges.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening the long-standing partnership between POF and the University of Wah through joint research projects, capacity building, and innovation-driven initiatives that contribute to academic excellence and national industrial development.
