Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between University of Wah and As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University, Indonesia

University of Wah and As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 07 May 2026, marking the beginning of a strategic academic partnership aimed at enhancing international cooperation in higher education, research, and cultural exchange. The virtual signing ceremony was held via Zoom and attended by senior officials from both institutions, reflecting a strong commitment to collaborative academic engagement and global knowledge sharing.

Representing the University of Wah were Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor; Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd.), Registrar; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC; and Dr. Hafiz Shuaib Farooq, Chairperson, Department of Islamic Studies.

The delegation from As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University included Prof. Dr. Masduki Ahmad SH., MM, Rector; Dr. Rohmad Adi Yulianto Lc, MA, Vice Rector I; Dr. Misbah Fikrianto, M.Pd, Vice Rector III; Abdul Hamid Lc, M.Kom.I, Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies; Mahfuz S. Sos, ME, MM, Vice Dean, Faculty of Islamic Studies; Dr. Kurnia Budi Secorita, MM, Secretary University; and Dr. Badrah Uyuni, MA, Secretary of the Doctoral Program in Islamic Da’wah.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Masduki Ahmad expressed appreciation for the partnership and highlighted the academic synergy between the two institutions. He stated that the MoU would serve as a practical framework for joint research initiatives, community service programs, student and faculty exchanges, and cultural collaboration.

Dr. Misbah Fikrianto reaffirmed the university’s dedication to the active implementation of the agreement, emphasizing that immediate action plans would be developed to ensure meaningful outcomes from the partnership.

In a significant gesture of academic support, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi announced that the University of Wah would provide fully funded scholarships to two graduates from As-Syafi’iyah Islamic University. The scholarships will cover tuition fees, accommodation, and meals in disciplines including Basic Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Vice Chancellor further directed the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) to coordinate with the Indonesian counterpart to finalize scholarship procedures and initiate the selection process.

The partnership is expected to provide opportunities for collaborative research, joint publications, international conferences, faculty development, and cross-cultural academic engagement. Both institutions expressed optimism that the MoU will strengthen educational ties between Pakistan and Indonesia while promoting innovation and academic excellence at the international level.
