Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wah (UW), participated in the 6th National Conference on Social Psychiatry, organized by the Pakistan Association of Social Psychiatry and held at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Islamabad, on 02 May 2026. The conference brought together prominent psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health professionals from across the country to deliberate on emerging psychological challenges, particularly the impact of digitalization and social media.
Representing the University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan delivered an oral presentation titled “Digital Detox with DBT: Regulating Emotions in the Age of Screen and Gaming Addiction.” His presentation highlighted the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to manage emotional dysregulation associated with excessive screen use and gaming addiction. The presentation was well-received and contributed to ongoing discussions on digital well-being and psychological resilience.
The conference featured distinguished psychiatrists, including Prof. Dr. Aftab Alam, Prof. Wajid Ali Akhunzada, Prof. Khalid A. Mufti, Prof. Iqbal Afridi, Prof. Fareed A. Minhas, and Prof. Imtiaz Dogar, showing the strong academic engagement and collaborative spirit of Pakistan’s mental health community.
