Department of Sociology, University of Wah, conducted a one-day CB Activity workshop titled “AI Tools for Social Science Research: Smarter Ways to Collect, Analyze, and Write,” which was on 30 January 2026. The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the practical applications of artificial intelligence in social science research, with particular focus on data collection, data analysis, and academic writing.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Sociology, who served as the resource person. In his deliberations, he highlighted the growing significance of AI in contemporary social science research. He demonstrated its use for literature review management, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, transcription, and research manuscript drafting. He also emphasized the ethical and responsible use of AI, drawing attention to concerns related to academic integrity, bias, transparency, and the indispensable role of critical human judgment in research processes.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Shuaib Farooq, who served as the focal person. The session was interactive, with active participant engagement and discussion. Overall, the workshop was well-received and enhanced participants’ understanding of effectively integrating AI tools into social science research practices.
