University of Wah (UW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Startup Coworks during the Conference on Academia’s Collaboration with Industrial Organizations (CACIO-2025) on 17 December 2025. The agreement marks a significant step toward strengthening industry-academia collaboration with a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and student employability.
The MoU was formally signed by Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, and Mr. Wasif Mehmood, Chief Executive Officer, Startup Coworks. Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd), the Registrar, Deans, Directors, Treasurer, and representatives from industry also attended the MoU signing ceremony.
Following the signing ceremony, a delegation from Startup Coworks, led by Mr. Amir Zaman, Operations Manager, along with Mr. Usama Salman, visited the allocated incubation space at the University of Wah Business Incubation Center (UW-BIC). The delegation held a detailed meeting with Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC, and Mr. Aman Khan, Manager Placements (In-charge UW-BIC). During the interaction, ongoing Final Year Projects were showcased, highlighting several success stories. The delegation appreciated the quality, innovation, and strong potential demonstrated by UW students.
Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate on industry-linked Final Year Projects, joint coworking and incubation activities through UW-BIC, entrepreneurship development initiatives, and internship and job placement opportunities for students.
The partnership is expected to yield multiple outcomes, including the development of industry-relevant student projects to enhance employability, the establishment of a stronger startup pipeline through mentoring and coworking support, increased student success in national and international competitions, expanded internship and placement opportunities, and enhanced innovation through sustained industry-academia synergy.
This collaboration shows the UW’s continued commitment to nurturing future innovators and entrepreneurs by providing students with practical exposure, industry engagement, and an enabling ecosystem for startup development.
