The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Wah (UW), organized an international seminar on 21 July 2026, featuring distinguished guest speakers Prof. Dr. Atif Azad, Birmingham City University, United Kingdom; and Dr. M. Zubair, Associate Professor, University of Sharjah, UAE. The seminar provided faculty members and students with valuable insights into emerging global research trends, technological innovation, and international collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Atif Azad spoke on an international academic collaboration involving researchers from six countries and nine organizations to address the challenge of severe childhood malnutrition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-border research partnerships and shared his vision for developing locally contextualized, data-driven AI models to strengthen Pakistan's healthcare system.
Dr. M. Zubair delivered a comprehensive presentation on contemporary developments in the nuclear industry, highlighting the role of nuclear energy in clean hydrogen production and transportation. He also discussed the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in nuclear waste management, emphasizing its potential to enhance safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session in which faculty members and students actively engaged with the speakers. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, commended the guest speakers for their valuable contributions and encouraged researchers to pursue collaborative, internationally driven research that addresses national and global challenges.
Following the seminar, both experts held dedicated sessions with PhD scholars to discuss their research projects. Prof. Dr. Atif Azad also met with the Deans of the Faculties of Computer Science and Social Sciences to explore future research collaborations. During the meetings, he appreciated the contribution of Dr. Rizwan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, to the international proposal on childhood malnutrition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and expressed his willingness to mentor graduate students from the Faculty of Computer Science in their research endeavors.
