Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Wah and INTI International University, Malaysia

Wednesday, June 10, 2026

University of Wah (UW), Pakistan, and INTI International University, Malaysia, formalized a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 June 2026, marking a significant step toward advancing internationalization, academic excellence, and collaborative research between the two institutions.

Driven by their respective Departments of Education, the agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for academic cooperation. The partnership encompasses student and faculty exchange opportunities, curriculum review initiatives, the organization of short academic courses, and postdoctoral placement arrangements. A key highlight of the MoU is the joint publication plan aimed at producing six Scopus-indexed research articles. In addition, INTI International University will explore scholarship opportunities for University of Wah students enrolled in BS, MS, and PhD programs.

The MoU signing ceremony was held virtually and attended by senior leadership and representatives from both universities. Addressing the participants, INTI International University's Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Chan Kait Loon, shared that since its establishment in 1986, INTI has placed strong emphasis on international collaboration, developing partnerships with institutions across countries, including India, Indonesia, China, and Pakistan. He further shared that INTI currently holds a global QS World University Ranking of 509, reflecting its growing international standing.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, highlighted the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and expressed pride in the emerging partnership between the two institutions. He observed that despite being a relatively young university, the University of Wah has demonstrated remarkable progress, achieving a commendable initial performance in its first-ever application to the QS Rankings. He further emphasized that, in alignment with the Higher Education Commission's evolving policies, the University of Wah is actively pursuing dual-degree arrangements and joint research programs. He also noted that the university offers comprehensive hostel facilities for both national and international students, thereby enhancing its readiness for global academic engagement.

The high-level signing ceremony featured distinguished representatives from both sides. The University of Wah delegation, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, included Registrar Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri Ameem (Retd.); Faculty Deans; the Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC); the Director of Quality Assurance and Enhancement; the Chairperson of the Department of Education; and Dr. Hakim Ullah, who served as the focal person from the University of Wah.

Representing INTI International University were Dr. Chan Kait Loon, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Douglas Sie Nguong Law, Director of the International Relations and Collaboration Center (IRCC); Dr. Niaz Ali, focal coordinator; Ms. Natasha, Regional Head of IRCC; and Danial Wong.

The agreement shows the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering international academic partnerships, promoting research excellence, expanding mobility opportunities, and creating pathways for students and faculty to engage in meaningful global collaboration. Through this partnership, the University of Wah and INTI International University aspire to contribute to the development of a more connected and innovative higher education landscape.
