Department of Islamic Studies, University of Wah, organized a National-Level Kalam-e-Riyaz Naat Competition on 02 February 2026, in collaboration with the Ahl-e-Zauq Foundation (SNFAZ). The competition was dedicated to the renowned Naatia poetry of Peer Syed Muhammad Riyaz-ud-Din Soharwardi (RA) and aimed at promoting authentic Naat recitation while encouraging young Naat Khawans from across the country.
Dr. Mussarrat Malik, Chairperson, Department of Islamic Studies, welcomed the audience and participants and highlighted the vision of organizing a spiritually enriching event that nurtures young talent, promotes Islamic ethics, ensures fairness and excellence, and strengthens love for the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
A large number of young participants presented heartfelt Naat recitations, reflecting devotion, vocal skill, and literary appreciation. The audience, both onsite and online, highly appreciated the high standard of performances and the spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The competition was judged by a respected panel under the supervision of Syed Muhammad Fasih-ud-Din Soharwardi Sahib. Participants were evaluated on voice quality, pronunciation, expression, rhythm, and overall presentation, ensuring transparency and merit-based assessment.
Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, awarded cash prizes, shields, and certificates to the top performers. Mr. Abdul Haseeb Anjum (Sir Syed CASE IT, Islamabad) secured first prize with Rs. 25,000, Mr. Saad Ali (Rawal Homeo College, Rawalpindi) won second prize with Rs. 20,000, and Mr. Mohammad Rehan (Sir Syed College, Campus 4) achieved third prize with Rs. 15,000. All remaining participants were also honored with Rs. 5,000 cash prizes and certificates as encouragement.
The event received strong engagement on social media and was broadcast live on YouTube via the Ahl-e-Zauq Official Channel, attracting viewers from Pakistan and abroad. Representatives of the Ahl-e-Zauq Foundation stated that such programs play a vital role in preserving classical Naatia literature and providing a positive platform for emerging talent, while reaffirming their commitment to promoting religious, literary, and cultural heritage through modern digital platforms. The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and continued service to Islam and the love of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
