Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah (UW), participated as an invited guest speaker in an academic seminar titled “Calculation of Log ft Values and β-Decay Modes in sd-Shell Nuclei” at Kirikkale University, Türkiye, on 24 September 2026, engaging with the university’s academic community on contemporary developments in nuclear physics and opportunities for strengthening international research collaboration.
The seminar, organized by the Physics Society of Kirikkale University, provided a platform for academic interaction among students, faculty members, and researchers. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mahmut Böyükata, Head, Department of Physics, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and was attended by Prof. Dr. Murat Lüy, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, along with academic and administrative staff and students.
The program commenced with a moment of silence and the national anthem, followed by opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Mahmut Böyükata, who briefed the participants on the historical development of nuclear physics and contemporary areas of research in the field.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi shared insights into contemporary theoretical research in nuclear physics, particularly studies concerning β-decay in sd-shell nuclei. He discussed the calculation of Log ft values and β-decay modes, highlighting findings related to β-decay half-lives and their consistency with various theoretical calculations. He also elaborated on the significance of such studies for advancing understanding of nuclear structure and β-decay processes.
The academic engagement also featured discussion on opportunities to strengthen scientific and academic collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye, including potential avenues for joint research and academic initiatives between universities of the two countries.
The interactive session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, during which Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi responded to students’ queries and discussed aspects of contemporary research in nuclear physics. At the end, Prof. Dr. Murat Lüy presented a commemorative gift to the Vice Chancellor (VC).
