Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director-ORIC, University of Wah, participated in a roundtable on “Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer & Academia-Industry Linkages” held on 22 September 2026 at the headquarters of IPO-Pakistan, Islamabad, organized by Young CEOs, Entrepreneurs & Innovators Summit (YES) Pakistan, in collaboration with IPO-Pakistan and HEC Task Force on ORICs & BICs.
Prof. Dr. Hafiz Aziz-ur-Rehman, Chairman, IPO-Pakistan, welcomed participants and emphasized stronger collaboration between IPO-Pakistan and universities for protection, commercialization, and transfer of academic research and innovations. Dr. Javaid Laghari, Convener, HEC Task Forces on ORICs & BICs, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of translating university research into commercially viable products, technologies, and innovations.
The roundtable brought together senior academics, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to discuss IP protection, patents, trademarks, technology commercialization, technology transfer, and academia-industry linkages. Participants also proposed AI-assisted patent preparation, dedicated funding for patent filing, joint Master Trainers programs for ORICs/BICs, and greater recognition of IP creation and commercialization in faculty promotion criteria.
