Dr. Asma Arif, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Focal Person for the Women Development Department at University of Wah, delivered a guest lecture titled “Women Empowerment: Production to Application” at F.G. Postgraduate College for Women under the Chief Minister Punjab Female Ambassador Program on 11 May 2025.
Representing the Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, Dr. Asma Arif highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment through education, leadership, innovation, and institutional collaboration. She discussed initiatives promoting women’s participation in academia, entrepreneurship, STEM, and leadership, with special reference to programs by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, COMSTECH-OIC, and the Women Development Department of Punjab. The session also focused on the role of academia and public-private partnerships in creating opportunities for women and encouraging their active participation in national development.
During the visit, Dr. Asma Arif and Ms. Maira Kashaf Raja, the Female Ambassador of the Women Development Department, explored opportunities for future collaboration between the University of Wah and F.G. Postgraduate College for Women, including joint research, academic partnerships, and educational events.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of a commemorative shield by Ms. Naqeeba Tausif, Head of the Department and Associate Professor of Economics, in recognition of Dr. Asma Arif’s valuable contribution. Dr. Asma Arif also held a productive meeting with Principal Professor Zohra Jabeen to discuss future collaborative academic initiatives between the two institutions.
