Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Wah, organized the 3rd International Seminar on “Deconstructing the Radical Mindset: Behavioral and Community-led Intervention Strategies” on 11 August 2026 in hybrid mode. The seminar was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan as chief organizer, Dr. Noman Aftab as organizer, and Ms. Habiba Shaheen as focal person.
The seminar brought together distinguished national and international experts to explore contemporary approaches to deradicalization and the prevention of radicalization through psychological, behavioral, and community-based interventions.
Mr. Mubin Shaikh, Counter Extremism Specialist and Instructor at the University of Ottawa, Canada, joined virtually and spoke on “A U.S. NGO’s Work on Deradicalization Across Ideologies: Parents 4 Peace.” Dr. Wajid Ali, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bologna, Italy, discussed deradicalization and related intervention approaches, while Dr. Sobia Masood, Professor and Chairperson, Department of Psychology, Rawalpindi Women University, delivered a talk titled “Rewiring the Radical Mindset: Building Emotional Regulation, Empathy, and Moral Agency in Today’s Youth.” Keynote contributions were also delivered by Dr. Sania Shaheen, Dr. Mehwish Jabeen, Ms. Fouzia Ayoub, and Ms. Dimpal Kumari from the University of Wah.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, followed by the distribution of certificates in recognition of the valuable contributions of the speakers, organizers, and volunteers.
