Department of Sociology, University of Wah, organized an awareness session on Gender Equality and Social Inequalities, focusing on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10 on 08 January 2026. The session, delivered by Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department of Sociology, aimed to enhance students’ understanding of gender disparities and social inequalities, as well as their broader impact on individuals and society.
Students from various departments actively participated in the session, promoting meaningful interdisciplinary dialogue and critical discussion. Dr. Jamil elaborated on the core objectives of SDGs 5 and 10, highlighted prevailing challenges related to gender and social inequalities, and emphasized the importance of inclusive policies, equal opportunities, and shared social responsibility in addressing these issues.
The interactive and informative session enabled participants to gain deeper insights into the structural dimensions of inequality and underscored the vital role of education in fostering equity, inclusion, and social justice. The initiative contributed positively to raising student awareness and strengthening engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals, reinforcing the University’s commitment to social development and responsible citizenship.
