Department of Management Sciences, University of Wah, in a significant step toward aligning academic research with national policy discourse, organized an insightful online session titled “Impact of Taxes on Financial Leverage: Moderating Role of Institutional Investors” on 26 May 2025. Dr. Syed Shafqat Mukarram, Assistant Professor of Finance, Department of Management Sciences, was the resource person.
Dr. Mukarram’s presentation offered in-depth research findings that highlighted the influence of tax structures on corporate capital structuring strategies. More importantly, his analysis revealed how institutional investors, such as mutual funds, pension funds, and insurance companies, act as stabilizing forces, guiding firms toward more sustainable and tax-efficient financial decisions.
Attended by representatives from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), members from academia and industry, the session provided valuable insights aimed at developing balanced tax policies that encourage sustainable financial practices and enhance investor confidence. The initiative was praised for its relevance and timeliness, offering a robust platform for dialogue between academic and policy-making institutions.
