University of Wah Science Society (UWSS), in collaboration with Pink Ribbon Pakistan, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar on 22 October 2025 under the nationwide Pinktober campaign. The session aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer, emphasize early detection, and highlight preventive measures such as breastfeeding and breast self-examination.
Guest speakers Dr. Shazia Rasheed and Dr. Ayesha Sibghat from POF Hospital Wah Cantt delivered informative talks on symptoms, prevention, and the importance of timely diagnosis. The seminar was attended by female faculty members and students from various departments of the University of Wah and Mashal Degree College.
Dr. Siddra Rana, Focal Person for Pink Ribbon Pakistan at the Department of Mathematics and the Pink Ribbon Youth Awareness Program under the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, organized the event under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar, Dean/ Patron UWSS, Faculty of Basic Sciences, and the UWSS Team. Prof. Dr. Shumaila Naz, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences, presented shields to the guest speakers as a token of appreciation. The seminar concluded with the message “Early Detection Saves Lives,” emphasizing the need for sustained awareness to fight the growing incidence of breast cancer in Pakistan.
