2nd International Seerah Conference 2025: “The Seerah and Artificial Intelligence” at University of Wah

Wednesday, April 9, 2025

Department of Islamic Studies, University of Wah (UW) organized the 2nd International Seerah Conference on 09–10 April 2025, themed “The Seerah and Artificial Intelligence: Bridging Historical Traditions with Contemporary Technological Advancement.” The event brought together over 200 participants from 35 universities, nationally and internationally, to explore the intersection of Prophetic traditions and emerging technologies.

Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC, Islamabad, graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest, emphasizing the role of scholars and educators in guiding youth through Seerah and Quranic teachings. Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor UW, and Dr. Mussarrat Malik, Chairperson, Dept. of Islamic Studies, UW, highlighted the importance of aligning technological advancements with ethical foundations from Seerah.

Keynote speakers included Dr. Noria Ramli (International Islamic University Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq (Islamic Research Institute, IIUI), and Dr. Abdul Hamid (Al-Shafia Islamic University, Indonesia), with contributions from Dr. Mahmud Al Salti (Al Zaytooniah University, Jordan) and Dr. Abd ur Rahman (UET Taxila).

National participants included scholars such as Dr. Sabina Awais (GC Women University, Sialkot), Abd ur Rab (HITEC University, Taxila), Umar Yousaf (University of Lahore), Dr. Ahsan ur Rahman Ghouri (Punjab University), Dr. Naveed Iqbal, Dr. Hafiz Rao Farhan (AIOU), Dr. Badshah Rehman, Dr. Najmul Hassan (University of Malakand), and Hafiz Ahsan Javed (University of Narowal).

International virtual presenters included Dr. Nadia Lagjae Djelloul Saih (University of Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria), Dr. Abdul Salam Hamood Ghalib Ansi (University of Najah, Somaliland), Dr. Auwad Abdul Jaleel (University of Red Sea, Sudan), Dr. Abdul Munim Abdullah Khalaf, Dr. Ghassan Muhammad Hassan (University of Tikrit, Iraq), along with Pakistani presenters Dr. Wajid Ali, Dr. Matloob Ahmed Rana (Superior University, Faisalabad), Dr. Muhammad Wasim Mukhtar, Dr. Muhammad Naseer (Gomal University), Dr. Muhammad Asim Shahbaz, Farrukh Sawar (University of Rasool), and Dr. Hafiz Saeed ur Rehman (AIOU).

MY University, Islamabad, was represented by Mufti Muhammad Siddique Danish, Khaleel ur Rahman, Aroosa Latif, Iqra, Aysha Imran, Zumra Iqbal, Huzaifa Shabbir, Muhammad Ubaid ur Rehman, Abd ur Rasool, Mehmood Elahi, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Fouzia Ayub, Rabia Bano, Muhammad Aslam Rabbani, Ashraf Saleemi, Muhammad Zeeshan, Muhammad Ali Qureshi, Dr. Mohsin Zia Qazi, Syed Zulqurnain Shah, Usman Qazi, and Hafiz Usama Ahmed. From University of Wah, contributors included Sana Bibi, Aliza Malik, Azeema Maqsood, Shaiza Hameed, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Nasir, Saleema Khatoon, Muqaddas Rasheed, Hamza Nasir, Hiffza Bisharat, Fouzia Ayub, Irum Fatima, Muhammad Asif Iqbal, and Muhammad Zeeshan.

Additional national contributors represented Riphah International University, Kohat University of Science & Technology, Karachi University, University of Haripur, IIUI, Govt. Sachal Sarmast College, Hyderabad, Green International University, Lahore College for Women University, Gomal University, MIU (Nerian Sharif, AJK), University of Chakwal, Bahria University, NUST, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and MIU AJK.

The second day of the conference focused on the ethical and spiritual dimensions of AI in light of the Seerah. Mrs. Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, graced the session as Chief Guest. Scholars discussed AI in education, Islamic ethics in technology, and Seerah-based digital frameworks. The conference concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Riaz Ahmad Saeed and Dr. Muhammad Shahid, followed by certificate and souvenir distribution. The conference underscored the crucial need to ethically navigate AI in light of Seerah, aiming for spiritually aligned technological progress.
