Department of Economics, University of Wah, organized a capacity-building activity titled “Economic Valuation of Environmental Goods: The Hedonic Pricing Method” on 19 June 2025 to foster analytical skills and policy-relevant research among students and young scholars. The session was conducted by Ms. Rehana Naqvi, Lecturer, Department of Economics.
The workshop aimed to equip students and early-career researchers with the analytical tools necessary to understand how environmental factors, such as air quality, green spaces, and noise levels, influence housing prices. Through practical engagement, participants explored real-world applications of the hedonic pricing method, practiced hands-on regression modeling, and examined local case studies.
The session emphasized the method’s relevance to public policy, sustainable urban development, and key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Active participation and thoughtful discussion made the workshop an engaging and insightful learning experience for students and early-career researchers.
