UW FM 101.8 Special Transmission for 77th Independence Day

UW FM 101.8 radio marked Pakistan's 77th Independence Day on 14 August 2024 with a special transmission celebrating the nation's rich history and diversity. The broadcast featured a blend of recorded segments and live discussions, meticulously curated to honor Pakistan's journey, recognize its heroes, and inspire national pride. The transmission opened with "Hum Sab Ka Pakistan," an hour-long episode hosted by Capt. Umer Farooq, Columnist & Motivational Speaker from Wah Cantt, reflected on the unity & diversity that define the nation. This was followed by "Humarey Heroes," a series of seven interviews aired from 1-10 August 2024 hosted by Ms. Sarah Khan, A/Director-DMP, Mr. Umer Hayat Khan, Station Manager-UW, Ms. Nayla Naseem, Content Writer English-DMP. The interviews highlighted the contributions of distinguished guests to Pakistan's development."14th August Special Documentary," hosted by Mr. Umer Hayat Khan, provided a compelling overview of Pakistan's journey since its inception. "Azadi Ki Tehreek," a two-hour episode by Ms. Samreen Haider, Islamic Studies Department, explored the historical freedom movement that led to Pakistan's creation. Adding an inspiring touch, the "Jashney Azadi Celebration" segment featuring the talents and resilience of differently-abled children from the Baseerat School, Wah Cantt. The broadcast also included insightful discussions like "Yum-e-Azadi," hosted by Ms. Shehla Nazmeen, DDSA-UW, exploring the modern significance of Independence Day, and "Pakistan and Youth," featuring media professional Mr. Danish Saeed, focusing on the pivotal role of young Pakistanis in shaping the nation's future. "14th August Aur Humari Zimedariya," hosted by Mr. Umer Hayat Khan with social activist Mr. Malik Sajjad, emphasized citizens' responsibilities, while "14th August Aur Humari Sehat on Zero Waste Management," hosted by Dr. Sadia Nadeem and Dr. Nabeel, Wah Medical College, highlighted environmental sustainability.

Directorate of Media Publications, in collaboration with students and faculty from various departments, played a pivotal role in broadening the transmission's reach. Their diverse contributions, including videos and public messages by UW students, ensured a comprehensive representation of Pakistan's society. Special video and audio messages from a wide range of contributors, including Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice-Chancellor-UW, Maj Gen. Abdul Khaliq Naveed (R) HI(M), Principal Wah Medical College, Dr. Aneela Tabassum, Principal Mashal Degree College, Prof. Dr. Adnan Tariq, Dean Engineering-WEC, Dr. Shaukat Ali, Director-ORIC, Col. Hafiz Sibghat Ullah Fazil (R), Director Admissions, Ms. Mahwish Ramzan, Additional Registrar-HR, Maj. Ammir Munir Raja (R), Deputy Registrar Admin & Security, along with contributions from notable Pakistani professionals like actor Khaled Anam, actresses Laila Zuberi and Annie Zaidi, Advocate Alia Zaffar Raja, District Attorney Attock, Ms. Nuzhat Ramzan, former lecturer Mashal Degree College and Laser & Skin Medical Consultant, Ontario, Canada, further enriched the broadcast.

Through this thoughtfully crafted transmission, UW FM 101.8 celebrated Pakistan’s independence, inspiring listeners to reflect on the nation's past, understand the present, and actively contribute to a brighter and united future.
