OVERVIEW

Second International Conference on Linguistics, Literary and Pedagogical Turns 2022 aims at providing an interdisciplinary platform for the latest evolutionary and innovative literary, linguistic and pedagogical responses to the changing climate of the world socially, economically, culturally, politically and other diverse ways. Language, Literature and teaching/learning practices being the representation, manifestation and future of society are impacted greatly by these changes. For the educators and researchers, it is vital to meditate and ponder on the ways this change affects our cognition and conduct. Literary scholars, all over the world are probing into works relating disasters, environment and ecology, diseases and discontinuity and are trying to find new perspectives in various modes of metamorphoses.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

We invite all prospective researchers genially to contribute in building an impact and leaving the footsteps of innovative research and deliberations through this conference by submitting their high quality original and unpublished research abstracts and papers. Additionally, individual paper presentations and studies conducted from interdisciplinary perspectives are also welcomed.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

All submitted conference papers will be blind peer reviewed by three competent reviewers and will be selected for publication in HEC recognized “Y” Category journal.

Dr. Patricia Jabbeh Wesley

Dr. Patricia Jabbeh Wesley

Dr. Patricia Jabbeh Wesley is a Professor of English, Creative Writing, and African Literature at Penn State University. She is the author of six books of poetry: Praise Song for My Children: New and Selected Poems, When the Wanderers Come Home, Where the Road Turns, The River is Rising, Becoming Ebony, and Before the Palm Could Bloom: Poems of Africa. She is also the author of a children’s book, In Monrovia, the River Visits the Sea. Her poem, “One Day: Love Song for Divorced Women” was selected by US Poet Laureate, Ted Kooser as an American Life in Poetry June 13, 2011, featured poem. Her poems have been nominated four times for the Pushcart Awards, and her poetry has been extensively reviewed and has been the subject of book chapters by literary scholars of literature across the world, including recent reviews in the UK, in the US, Scotland, and in Canada, and in Africa.


Dr. Hanita Hassan

Dr. Hanita Hassan

Dr. Hanita Hassan is an Associate Professor and she is currently the Chair of Language Academy, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. She has written and co-authored several books which include, Multimodal Communication of Corporate Website Design, New Perspectives in Language and Communication Research and English for Career Search. Her book on Multimodal Communication of Corporate Website Design won the Original Book Award, UTM in 2012. She is an editor for LSP International Journal. Her research interests include Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), multimodality, language in media, intercultural communication and ELT methodology. Her current project is ‘Designing a guide for the implementation of CEFR-Aligned English language tests’.


Dr. Fabio Luppi

Dr. Fabio Luppi

Dr. Fabio Luppi did his Phd in Comparative Literature (Università Roma Tre - 2008). He is the Author of the books, Cerimonie e Artifici nel Teatro di W.B. Yeats (NEU 2011), Fathers and Sons at the Abbey Theatre (1904-1938) (BrownWalker Press 2018), and Tradurre il teatro. He has written several contribution especially on W.B. Yeats, J. Joyce and the Irish theatre of the first years of the twentieth century. His fields of interest include: Irish Studies, Post-Colonial Studies, Translation Studies and Jacobean Theatre.


Dr. Iren Boyarkina

Dr. Iren Boyarkina

Iren Boyarkina received her PhD from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, with a thesis which focused on the narratives by British science fiction writer and philosopher Olaf Stapledon. She has conducted extensive research in English and American science fiction literature, English and American literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, feminist literature, cognitive linguistics, CLIL, SLA, and translation studies. She has published a monograph on English and Russian science fiction, as well as works dedicated to Stapledon, Lessing, H.G. Wells, Arthur Clarke, Orwell, Mary Shelley, Anne Tyler, Henry James, Joyce, Dickens, Wharton, Bulgakov, Tolstoi, Yefremov, Belyaev, and Chekhov, among others. She has also edited “Passages through Enclosures and the Spacetime Continuum in English and American Science Fiction” by Cambridge Scholars. She teaches English language and literature at the University of Rome La Sapienza and the University of Tuscia.


Dr. Azadeh Mehrpouyan

Dr. Azadeh Mehrpouyan

Dr. Azadeh Mehrpouyan completed her Ph.D. in English Literature as a top graduate from the University of Pune, India. Her research interests are literary theory, feminism, comparative literature, world literature, women studies, and interdisciplinary studies. She is an author and reviewer and has publications around 50 books and scientific research articles on the above-mentioned fields in valid and indexed scientific journals, and keynote speaker and referee in international conferences in different countries around the world e.g., UK, USA, UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, Spain, India, etc.


Dr Meretguly Gurbanov

Dr Meretguly Gurbanov

Dr Meretguly Gurbanov is a lecturer in the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation, Dowletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Meret has over 20 years’ of extensive experience working as a teacher, trainer and curriculum developer in various national and international institutions. He earned his MA in TESL and PhD in ELE from the English and Foreign Languages University, one of the most prestigious universities in South Asia in the field of English Language Education. He has presented and published widely in the areas of materials development, CLIL and teacher training. He was a co-translator for Oxford Essential Dictionary for Turkmen learners. As a scientific expert, he also translated a two volume epic folk tale “Görogly” into English. Since 2019, he has undertaken an In-Service Teacher Training Project for English language teachers at the D. Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and trained over 150 teachers. His area of study includes CLIL, culture in ELT materials, syllabus design and materials production, teacher training, translation and poetry.


Dr. Iman Al Khalidi

Dr. Iman Al Khalidi

She is a professor of TESOL with an international experience in teaching ESL/EFL/ EAP in different universities, colleges, and language institutes. She believes in adaptive learning, learner-centered approach, and openness to any changes contributing to dynamic learning. She has a strong experience in classroom management, pedagogical strategies, teaching methods, and working in multi-cultural environments. Moreover, she has designed ESL/EFL curriculum modules, materials, and lessons. She completed a Doctor of Education in TESOL at Exeter University. Recently, she completed a postgraduate diploma in TESL at Humber College, Canada. Her research interest includes course design, materials design, pedagogy of English language teaching, and the integration of technology and digital tools into the EFL/ESL classroom.


Anne Casey

Anne Casey

Anne Casey is an award-winning Sydney based Irish poet/writer and author of three critically acclaimed collection published by Salmon Poetry- The light we cannot see (2021); Out of emptied cups (2019) which was selected for Wardrobe Best Dressed 2020 (Sundress Academy of the Arts, USA) and Books of the Year 2019 (The Lonely Crowd, UK) and where the Lost things go (2017), with a fourth book forthcoming in October 2021. Anne has won poetry prizes in Ireland, the UK, the USA, Canada, Hong Kong and Australia, most recently the American Writer Competitions 2021. She is a regular guest editor for literary journals and is a founding member of the Prankqueans.


Dr. Akhter Habib Shah

Dr. Akhter Habib Shah

Dr. Akhter Habib is Presently working as an Assistant Professor of English in the department of English in Prince Sattam Bin AbdulAziz University. He taught for eight years in different universities across the world. He is specialized in modern English fiction with focus on Conflict studies. Dr. Akhter Habib is an expert on analyzing the representation of Kashmir imbroglio in modern English fiction. He has presented and published his work in leading national and international journals on his expertise. Dr. Akhter believes in the implementation of literary genres in the development of LSRW skills. He has published fourteen papers in leading international journals to promote juxtaposing of literature and language. Dr. Akhter Habib has illustrious experience as communication coach in leading corporate sector of India.


Dr. Dike Okoro

Dr. Dike Okoro

Dike Okoro holds a PhD in English from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with specialty in African and African diasporic literatures. He also holds an MFA in poetry and a MA in English (African American literature) from Chicago State University. He is the author of several books, including Futurism and the African Imagination: Literature and Other Arts (Routledge Publishing 2022), Lupenga Mphande: Ecocritical Poet/Political Activist (Rowman & Littlefield 2021), Speaking for the Generations: Contemporary Short Stories from Africa (AWP), and We Have Crossed Many Rivers: New Poetry from Africa (African Books Collective), which was shortlisted by humanrights.org UK as a one of the 5 Vocal Human Rights Poetry Books Inspiring Change. He has taught at Northwestern University, Northeastern Illinois University, Roosevelt University, and St Olaf College. He is presently an associate professor of English at Harris Stowe State University, where he was previously chair of the humanities program.


Dr Bootheina Majoul

Dr Bootheina Majoul

Dr Bootheina Majoul is currently Associate Professor of English Literature at the High Institute of Languages of Tunis (ISLT), University of Carthage. She holds an MA in Cross Cultural Poetics (ISLT, University of Carthage) and a PhD in English Literature (FLAHM, University of Manouba). She has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Her areas of specialization are World Literature, Maghreban Studies, Comparative Literature, Film Studies, Digital Pedagogy and Communication. She is Afikra Ambassador in Tunisia. She is the Founder & Chair of Arts & Humanities Global Network, Vice-Chair of Global Network of Liberal Arts, Steering Committee Member of Challenging Precarity NetworkMember of the Scientific Committee of the Research Laboratory Language & Cultural Forms (University of Carthage). Member of the Research Group TrAdE: Translation and Adaptation from/into English (Tor Vergata University, Rome). Member of the International Society of Boredom Studies (Madrid-International) and a Member of Doris Lessing Society (Ontario, Canada)


Michał B. Paradowski

Michał B. Paradowski

Michał B. Paradowski is an associate professor and teacher trainer at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw and a research and language teaching consultant. His interests include second language acquisition research, foreign language teaching, multilingualism, translanguaging, English as a lingua franca, Study Abroad, social network analysis, corpus linguistics, and emergency remote instruction. To date he gave over 190 invited lectures, seminars and workshops worldwide. Michał’s edited volumes are "Teaching Languages off the Beaten Track" and "Productive Foreign Language Skills for an Intercultural World"; his latest monograph is titled "M/Other Tongues in Language Acquisition, Instruction, and Use".
