A significant meeting was held between the management of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and University of Wah (UW) on 30 August 2024 to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at addressing poverty alleviation and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The PPAF, a frontline organization for Pakistan established in February 1997 under Section 42, has been working in collaboration with the World Bank and the federal government to combat poverty by promoting sustainable development across the country.
Key representatives from both organizations, including Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, UW; Prof. Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Dean of Management Sciences; Mr. Arshad Rashid, Programs Chief (PPAF); Mr. Zahid Hussain Azad, Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (PPAF); and Mr. Siraj-ul-Haq, Expert in Poverty Alleviation (PPAF). On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi highlighted the importance of academic-industry collaborations in tackling national and global challenges and emphasized that this partnership would enable UW to play a more proactive role in policy development and contribute to national poverty reduction and sustainable development efforts. Mr. Arshad Rashid, representing PPAF, expressed optimism about collaborating with the University of Wah. He stated that the MoU would pave the way for research-driven solutions and innovative approaches to poverty alleviation. During the meeting, both parties agreed to collaborate on initiatives contributing to policy development, effective measurement, and tackling SDGs. They decided to formalize this collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster research, innovation, and strategies addressing poverty's root causes while promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development. This partnership will mark a significant step towards achieving the shared vision of creating a more equitable and prosperous Pakistan.
