The Department of Physics-UW, hosted the inaugural online International Research Collaboration meeting with the School of Material Science & Engg. Hubei University, Wuhan, P.R. China, to foster international research cooperation on 16 November 2023. Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, chaired a meeting with key representatives from the field of Materials Science, including Dr. Matiullah Shah, Chairperson, Department of Physics, and Dr. Asma Arif, Focal Person for Hubei University, P.R. China, to initiate a promising collaboration. Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar welcomed the participants and introduced the University of Wah and its research facilities. She acknowledged the collective efforts that led to international cooperation, emphasizing the signing of MoUs, combined publications, and anticipated joint project calls. She expressed her gratitude to Hubei University's leadership and extended special thanks to Prof. Xianbao Wang for promoting collaborative research. She also acknowledged the valuable contributions of Dr. Sultan Danish, an alumnus of UW, and his group of students in this regard.
Dr. Matiullah Shah discussed his expertise and interest in research collaboration in energy harvesting, clean water, and biomaterials. Prof. Wang introduced the School of Material Science and Engineering at Hubei University and emphasized potential collaboration through student exchange programs and research facility utilization. Dr. Sultan Danish briefed his colleagues in China about their joint research plans. Dr. Asma Arif invited Professor MeiHao to conduct a webinar on rechargeable batteries, leveraging his expertise, as the University of Wah has already received funding for an international exchange project on this topic. The first online meeting between University of Wah and Hubei University promised significant advances in academic research. It strengthened international cooperation and paved the way for innovative research in materials science and rechargeable batteries.
