Department of Economics, University of Wah, in collaboration with College of Global Liberal Arts, Ritsumeikan University, Osaka Ibaraki Campus, Japan, organized a seminar, “Institutions and Economic Development: An Interactive Session,” for the students and faculty on 20 March 2024, to foster academic exchange and collaboration. The seminar, aimed at facilitating knowledge exchange and enhancing student-faculty interaction, featured Dr. Saeeda Batool, Associate Professor of Economics at Ritsumeikan University, Japan, as the resource person. Dr. Asma Arif, Chairperson, Department of Economics-UW, spearheaded the session's organization, emphasizing the significance of exploring the role of institutions in driving economic development in developing countries. Dr. Batool's enriched discourse provided a platform for discussing institutional frameworks and their impact on economic growth. It also paved the way for future collaborations between the University of Wah and Ritsumeikan University, Japan. Ms. Sarah Khan, A/Director, Directorate of Media Publications, discussed potential academic collaborations and admission procedures at Ritsumeikan University and other universities in Japan. She also collaborated with Dr. Saeeda Batool to broadcast a series of radio programs on UWFM101.8 for students and faculty, exploring new educational opportunities and forging partnerships with Japanese academic institutions. This event marks a significant step in strengthening academic ties and promoting cross-cultural learning experiences.
