UW Science Society (UWSS) organized a one-day mega event crammed with scientific knowledge and fun, "Science Fun-Gamma 2023," on 03 May 2023. Brig. Nafis Afzal Satti (Retd.), Managing Director, POF Welfare Trust, was the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony, which was attended by Deans, Directors, Chairpersons, Faculty, Students, and guests from Wah Nobel Pvt. Ltd. and other institutes from the vicinity. Professor Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar, Dean Basic Sciences and Patron in Chief of UWSS, presented a souvenir to the Chief Guest and formally announced the initiation of the event. The Chief Guest visited the modules and the stalls arranged by students and lauded them for their efforts and initiatives. Science Fun-Gamma 2023 is aimed at the popularization of science with added fun to boost learning and comprised of a myriad of technical and non-technical modules, namely, Science Marathon, STEM Quiz, Brain Rain, Science on the Clock, Scientistic, Science Mockups, Painting and Sketching Competition, etc. A large number of UW faculty and students, along with students from nearby institutes like Wah Engineering College, UET Taxila, COMSATS University, Islamabad, Wah Cantt, and Lahore campuses, the University of Haripur, UET Chakwal, Islamic International University Islamabad, Nova School System and College, Kips College, Sir Syed College, Base College, Scholars College, and Mashal Degree College, participated in various technical and non-technical modules in person, while the students from the University of Karachi and Hong Kong Baptist College virtually participated in various technical and non-technical modules. Judges from the Faculty of Basic Sciences awarded shields and certificates to the winners and runners-up. The event was sponsored by University of Wah, Wah Nobel Pvt. Ltd., Scientific Zone, and Iqbal & Sons Enterprises and proved to be another success of the Science Society-UW in enhancing community relations and encouraging the learning of science among eager students.
