Erasmus+KA171, a flagship initiative of the European Union, supports global cooperation in education, training, youth and sport. The Erasmus+ KA171 mobility opportunity for the University of Wah originated from the bilateral MoU signed between UW and Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), Türkiye, on 28 October 2021, which includes a specific clause on student mobility and academic exchange. Under this framework, KTU issued an official call on 12 November 2025 announcing the allocation of one fully funded student slot for Pakistan for the Spring 2025–26 semester (5 months). The call was circulated by the Director ORIC to all eligible departments at the UW. In response, a total of 37 UW students applied through the official KTU portal. The selection process was conducted by the Erasmus Selection Committee at KTU in line with European Commission Erasmus+ rules and Turkish National Agency guidelines, based on merit, CGPA, and English proficiency. After a transparent evaluation process, Ms. Javeria Rauf was selected as the sole nominee from Pakistan. The total grant of €4,580 covers travel, boarding, and lodging for the entire mobility period, and all logistics, including visa guidance and accommodation were managed by KTU under Erasmus+ funding provisions. The Erasmus+ KA171 scheme is globally competitive and country allocations are limited; for this cycle, only one slot was assigned to Pakistan under UW–KTU collaboration. The continuation of such opportunities is expected under future Erasmus+ calls, subject to the renewal of funding by the European Union and continued institutional cooperation between UW and KTU, with the next cycle anticipated for the 2026–27 academic session if allocations are approved.
Additionally, Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) extended this Erasmus+ KA171 mobility proposal to a total of 16 universities across 11 countries. Following the competitive evaluation process, only five (05) universities were able to secure successful nominations under the limited grant allocation. The successful partner institutions include:
•University of Wah (Pakistan, Computer Science)
•Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (Georgia – Medicine)
•University of Prishtina (Kosovo – Mathematics)
•University of Elbasan Aleksandër Xhuvani (Albania – Information Technologies)
•Higher Institute of Technological Studies of Rades (Tunisia – Information Technology).
Other participating institutions from Georgia, Albania, Algeria, Gambia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Mexico, and Morocco could not secure slots; only the highest-ranking candidates in line with Erasmus+ merit-based criteria were selected. This outcome highlights the highly competitive nature of the Erasmus+KA171 programme and underscores the significance of Ms. Javeria Rauf’s selection as a distinguished achievement for both the University of Wah and Pakistan.
