The Environmental Society, under the umbrella of the Directorate of Student Affairs, University of Wah (DSA-UW), organized the national-level event Go Green Gala 1.0 on 26 January 2026. The event brought together students from universities and colleges across Pakistan to promote environmental sustainability, creativity, and innovation.
Participating institutions included Women University Swabi, University of Education Attock, Virtual University, HITEC University, University of Haripur, Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), COMSATS University, and Khyber Medical University, as well as colleges such as F.G. College, Mashal Degree College, and The Educators.
The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen, Vice Chancellor, Women's University Swabi, as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. Dr. Jameel -Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah. Dr. Rai M. Amir from Agriculture University attended as the Guest of Honor, accompanied by the event sponsors. Major Shehzad Ahmed, Incharge Student Affairs, was also present at the ceremony.
Go Green Gala 1.0 featured six thematic modules with multiple sub-modules, providing students with a platform to showcase their skills, innovation, and environmental awareness. The event also hosted 40 food stalls, offering a wide variety of cuisines, including traditional cultural foods. A vibrant cultural segment showcased Pakistan’s rich heritage through Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pashtoon, and Kashmiri performances.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony, where Director ORIC Dr. Amjad Hassan, Dr. Irum Fatima, Faculty In-Charge, Environmental Society, Engr. Waqas Javid, DDSA-WEC, Ms. Shehla Nazmeen, DDSA-UW, and Dr. Fawad presented shields and certificates to the winners and organizers, commending their dedication and contributions toward environmental sustainability.
