University of Wah Science Society (UWSS), in collaboration with the Department of Physics, organized a hands-on training workshop titled “Exploring High-Energy Radiation Mechanisms with Fermi GBM and Gamma-Ray Burst Computational Analysis” on 21 January 2026.
The workshop featured Dr. Umer Rehman, Ph.D. in Theoretical Fusion Plasma Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, and Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Astrophysics, as the resource person. Dr. Rehman’s expert guidance effectively bridged the gap between theoretical astrophysics and practical data analysis. Participants gained practical exposure to real astrophysical data, enhancing their understanding of gamma-ray detectors, temporal and spectral analysis, and light curve construction. The session also strengthened their computational skills, research methodology, and analytical thinking, which are essential for advanced studies and research in physics and astrophysics.
The workshop concluded with a presentation of a commemorative shield to Dr. Umer Rehman by Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar, Dean of Basic Sciences and Patron-in-Chief of UWSS, in recognition of his valuable academic contributions.
