The Environmental Society of the University of Wah observed “APS Black Day” on 16 December 2025 to honor the martyrs of the Army Public School (APS) tragedy of 16 December 2014. The event combined remembrance, awareness, and creative expression to promote peace, harmony, and sustainability.
Students from various departments delivered reflective speeches highlighting the tragedy and the need for a safer, greener future. A nine-minute documentary titled “Remembering APS” was screened, presenting a factual account of the incident and the national response. The program included a Painting and Sketching Competition on the theme “Peace through Nature” and a quiz competition related to the APS incident and environmental issues, with winners receiving certificates.
In the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to the competition winners. The commemoration fostered collective empathy and enhanced awareness of the interconnection between peace and a healthy environment.
