Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC)-UW organized a seminar titled "How to Submit an International Patent" on 24 January 2025 to foster research, innovation, and the protection of intellectual property at an international level. The session aimed to provide faculty and researchers with essential knowledge and guidance on international patent submission processes. Prof. Dr. Wazir Zada Khan, Dean, Computer Science, University of Wah, conducted a comprehensive presentation during the seminar. His talk covered the key topics, including Scope & Understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Types of Patent Applications, Overview of the Patent Process, International Patent Protection Mechanism, and International Treaties, such as the Paris Convention and the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Dr. Khan also highlighted the distribution of published PCT applications by the technology sector for the top five origins and explained the detailed process of a typical PCT application. Faculty members from various departments attended the seminar.
