Department of Economics, in collaboration with Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA), Meezan Bank, and Treasurer's Office, organized a seminar titled “From Vision to Reality: The Success Story of Islamic Banking & Finance (Awareness Session on Interest-Free Loans from Ihsan Trust)” on 24 January 2025. Mr. Zulqarnain Haider, Vice President of Corporate Products & Structured Finance at Meezan Bank Limited, Islamabad was the keynote speaker, who shared insights into the progress and challenges in Islamic banking and finance. The session was moderated by Mr. Yasir Shah Kakakhel, Area Manager Abbottabad/Vice President, and Mr. Jawad Rafiqe, Vice President, Meezan Bank, Wah Cantt Branch. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Nazar Malik (Treasurer, UW), Syed Imran Rais (Controller of Examinations), and Dr. Mushtaq Hussain (Dean, Social Sciences). Mr. Haider highlighted Meezan Bank’s initiatives and the commitment of Ihsan Trust to provide interest-free loans for students and faculty. Department of Economics-UW expressed gratitude for the active participation of students & faculty, and emphasized the significance of fostering collaborations between academia and the financial industry to benefit the university community.
