Computing Society-UW, in collaboration with Smart Forum, hosted a seminar titled "Bringing Intelligence to the Edge" on 01 January 2025 to foster knowledge-sharing platforms for technological growth. The event featured Mr. Salman Farooq, Head of Strategy, Central Asian Cellular Forum – 3G Technologies Guarantee Ltd, Islamabad, as the guest speaker. The session focused on the fundamentals of edge computing, IoT-driven innovations shaping smart technologies, real-world applications, and challenges for sustainable advancements. Mr. Farooq emphasized the role of emerging technologies in driving innovation, building resilient infrastructure, and enabling sustainable urban growth, aligning with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). More than 300 students attended the event, sparked engaging discussions, and inspired innovative ideas for smart city advancements. In the end, Dr Wazir Zada Khan, Dean, Faculty of Computer Science presented a university souvenir to the distinguished guest speaker.
