Placements Office ORIC, University of Wah, in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA), organized a seminar titled Entrepreneurship as a Career Option on 23 December 2024. The event aimed to raise entrepreneurial awareness among students and emphasize the significance of start-ups in driving economic development. Mr. Asghar Nasar, Regional Business Coordinator at SMEDA, was the keynote speaker who provided valuable insights into the entrepreneurial journey, its phases, and strategies to overcome challenges. He emphasized important lessons and common pitfalls to avoid in start-ups by utilizing real-world examples of successful and failed ventures while highlighting SMEDA's crucial role in nurturing and promoting a vibrant start-up culture.
The seminar also featured inspiring talks by Mr. Muhammad Awais Satti, President, Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (ICSTSI), and Mr. Waseem-ul-Haq, Executive Member, ICSTSI, and CEO of Islamabad Printing Press. They also shared their entrepreneurial experiences and success stories and emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration, encouraging students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Forty-four students from the departments of Management Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, and Economics attended the seminar, which included an interactive Q&A session on challenges and solutions for small and medium enterprises. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director of ORIC, who appreciated the speakers for their insights and presented souvenirs to the distinguished guests as a token of gratitude.
