Young Peace and Development Corps (YPDC), University of Wah Chapter, organized the two-day National Young Policy Leader Summit 2.0 on 03-04 February 2026. The national-level summit brought together young policy thinkers from 14 universities across Pakistan, providing a collaborative platform for dialogue, innovation, and policy development aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Students from Hazara University, University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Karakoram International University (Gilgit-Baltistan), FATA University, GCU Faisalabad, National Skills University, UET Taxila, University of Haripur, HITEC University, NUST, Riphah International University, University of Mardan, University of Sahiwal, and Sir Syed Campus participated in the summit. Participants presented well-researched policy drafts focusing on SDG 1, SDG 5, and SDG 13, demonstrating strong analytical skills and a deep commitment to sustainable development.
A highlight of the summit was an insightful panel discussion featuring distinguished panelists Mr. Mustafa Tariq Wynne (Ex-YDF, Ministry of Planning), Dr. Naseem Parvez (Managing Director, Welfare Trust), and Dr. Jameel Ahmed Sheikh, who shared valuable perspectives on policy formulation, governance, and youth engagement in national development. The policy presentations were rigorously evaluated by a panel of judges, including Dr. Humera Iqbal Ch, Mr. Ahmed Zafar, Dr. Fozia Munir, Dr. Asma Arif, Dr. Jamil Sheikh, and Ms. Rehana Ali Naqvi, ensuring academic integrity and professional assessment standards.
The opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Jameel-Un Nabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Wah, with Barrister Aqeel Malik as the Chief Guest and Ms. Shazia Jadoon (MPA) as the Guest of Honor. Other notable attendees included Director ORIC Dr. Amjad Hasan, Maj. Shehzad Ahmed (In-charge Student Affairs), Engr. Waqas Javid, and Ms. Shehla Nazmin (DDSA, University of Wah). On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor presented a commemorative shield to the Chief Guest, Barrister Aqeel Malik.
The closing ceremony was attended by Engr. Waqas Javid and Ms. Shehla Nazmin (DDSA, UW), who distributed certificates and shields among the winners, runners-up, and organizing team members in recognition of their outstanding contributions and policy drafts.
The National Young Policy Leader Summit 2.0 stood as a testament to the creativity, leadership, and policy-making potential of Pakistan’s youth. The successful execution of the event highlighted the dedication of the YPDC University of Wah Chapter, setting a strong precedent for youth-led policy initiatives at the national level.
